We all need a little help with exercise sometimes. There are people who shy away from personal training, unsure of what they'll get out of the experience or whether it's worth the money. Here are a few reasons people typically hire personal trainers, take a look and see if the decision is right for you.
1. You’re Not Seeing Results: If you've been exercising consistently for several weeks or months and aren’'t seeing the changes you'd like, hiring a personal trainer may be a good choice. A trainer can look at your current fitness program and eating habits and help you see where you could make changes to create a more effective fitness program.
2. You Don’t Know Where to Start: A personal trainer can help you set goals, form a tailored fitness program and map out a specific schedule so you know when, how and where you'll fit in your workouts. He can also maximize your time while helping you stay within your own limits so you don't overdo it.
3. You’re Bored with the Same Old Workouts: A personal trainer can be a great choice if you need some variety in your workouts, bringing a fresh perspective and new ideas to challenge both your body and your mind. Even if you just do a few sessions, you'll find it refreshing to have new workouts and new exercise toys to play with.
4. You Need to Be Challenged: If you're like the average person, you might tend to slack off on your workouts, especially when things get tough. A personal trainer can motivate you to push past those self-imposed limits, encouraging you to lift heavier, go longer and challenge yourself to get that...one...last...rep!
5. You want to learn how to Exercise on your Own: Even if your goal is to create your own workouts and exercise by yourself, hiring a personal trainer for a few sessions can be a great benefit for learning the right way to exercise. Just a few sessions can teach you a lot about your body and how it works.
6. You Need Accountability and Motivation: There's nothing like a standing appointment with your personal trainer to get your butt in gear for a workout. Not only that, a trainer provides some accountability so, even when you don't have a session, you know your trainer will be asking if you did your planned workouts. Just knowing that may make it harder to skip your workouts.
7. You have a Specific Illness, injury or Condition: If you have any specific issues like arthritis, heart disease, old injuries, etc., working with an experienced personal trainer (who works with your doctor, of course) can help you find a program to help heal injuries and avoid any further problems.

Elevation
I wanted to create a cost effective program that educated people on movement while improving their health & well-being. Elevation is in a sense, personal training in a group setting. Each workout is planned ahead of time to be unique, consisting of a perfect mix of cardio and weight training. Like any structured workout it can be challenging, but with the motivation and direction I provide, everyone can succeed. You will leave this class with a sense of achievement, especially when you feel that "good sore" as you're moving about the next day. For details on how to be a part of Elevation, go to:

Disclaimer:
- This class is designed for individuals that consider themselves to be in moderate to excellent condition. Beginners should meet with me before participating in this class.
- People with moderate to severe joint issues should receive medical clearance before taking part in Elevation.

"I am very pleased to write an outstanding review for this personal trainer. Evan, is by far the best trainer I have worked with in 18 years. He is very knowledgeable in strength, flexibility and balance. I have experienced great results in overall endurance, strength and flexibility. When finished with a work out, I leave feeling like I got my monies worth. He is honest, upfront and direct about what you need to do to accomplish your goals. A true winner!" -- Tim Walters
"By far the best trainer I have ever had! Lost 30 lbs in about 6 months. Evan is always positive and the workouts are never boring and constantly changing. He understands exactly how hard to push you and when to layoff. I highly respect his professionalism and knowledge." -- Jacob York
"Looking for a top notch personal trainer? Look no further than Evan Supanich! He's clearly one of the best... he makes me work hard but also knows my limits, taking me to my brink in every workout, while making sure I'm staying safe and keeping the proper form. He changes it up so it's never boring... my workout is only limited by his imagination and there's usually one new surprise in every workout. The great outdoors is also part of his workout domain... taking advantage of the many stairs nearby... ugh ;) Evan is very knowledgeable in fitness, health and nutrition and believes in the importance of ongoing education. He cares about his clients and has a great personality... and that makes working out with Evan FUN!"

A little bit about me...
I began personal training in the fall of 2006 while working to obtain my Health and Fitness degree from Northern Michigan University. While attending Northern I was very active in sports. I spent 2 years on the NMU rugby team, competing against talent such as Michigan State University and University of Michigan. I also participated in Northern's intramural sports leagues-- spending all 5 years on football and ultimate frisbee teams.
After completing my degree I moved to Portland, not only because I have family here, but also because I love the outdoors. On my days off when the weather is nice, I like to get out! Since I arrived here I've been exploring everywhere from St Helens to Sunriver and from Hood to Coast. Many of my favorite activities also involve the outdoors in a major way.. snowboarding, kayaking, biking and camping just to name a few! So as you can probably guess, when it came time for me to choose a city, Portland was an obvious choice.
I consider myself blessed for having fallen into a career I love and for the opportunity to have worked with and learned from some of the best and brightest minds in the fitness industry today. I currently reside in Laurahurst with my girlfriend Micah and our dog Allister. I have been serving Portland's wellness community since October of 2009, with Alameda Fitness Center and the Beaumont neightborhood as my platform.
